Sometimes, the moments we fear the most end up showing us parts of ourselves we never knew existed.
The Twin News
It all started when I knew I was pregnant with twins. This was a scary moment for me because I feared what the future holds for me as a woman who loves her work so much.
It felt like everything I knew about myself was about to change, especially during a passion-fueled phase of motherhood after becoming a mother.
I stayed silent for a few days, and I didn’t know that what I feared was going to be the biggest milestone in my career.
The phase I was skeptical about would push me forward to discover my full potential.
I am an AUC graduate who had 10 years of experience in marketing research by the time I got pregnant. One decision I had in mind was to change careers after giving birth because I wanted to work, but I knew that marketing research was not for me any longer if I wanted to give my babies my utmost attention.
However, I didn’t want to stop. So, I started thinking about how I can make use of my experience and character to get the best out of my new situation, slowly leaning towards writing and content work, something I always loved.
Getting the Best Out of the Current Situation
I decided I’ll focus on writing, which has been my hobby since I was a teenager. I studied to take my hobby further to a professional level and started having my me time as a mother at night after I put my kids to sleep, where I spent studying, working on myself, and applying in places I can work with remotely from home.
Those late quiet nights became my battery to recharge for my motherly role the next day.
The more I worked on myself, the more energetic I was for my motherly tasks, and the more I felt good about myself. I discovered that a happy mom does better than a sad one, and that investing in myself reflects amazingly well on my own kids and house.
Challenges Never Stop Popping Up as We Go Along
Time passed, and I got another challenge where I had to relocate with my husband to the Gulf, having 2 babies on my shoulder who were only 1 year old. I was overwhelmed at the beginning.
But then I decided I’ll continue working on myself.
I thought maybe working in the Gulf would be even better for my CV. Days passed, and I offered PR services and content writing for big companies in Qatar and Dubai, as well as successfully joined big lifestyle magazines, which gave me an edge in my work.
Balancing and passion-fueled motherhood
4 years later, I was back in Egypt, where I kept building on my project and continued doing what I started. I dedicated a corner in my house to my work, turning it into a mini office, so every time I use it, I remember that I am balancing my role as a mother while living through passion-fueled motherhood without hurting my kids.
Then, when COVID hit the world, my PR work and writing were affected big time, but I didn’t let that stop me or dim my light.
I decided I would study and start writing my first book, a dream I had had since I was a teenager. Writing a book needed a lot of discipline and commitment, which I forced into my own schedule.
A few years later, I not only wrote a book but also published 2 books with one of the biggest publishing houses in Egypt.
Consistency Creates Magic
Did I stop afterwards? Never.
I then decided to use my passion for writing and all that I studied to start my most recent project, which is giving writing workshops for students to reconnect them with writing, and for moms so they can discover themselves, regain their energy, organise their thoughts, and share their feelings on paper.
A project I started out of passion is now becoming my biggest achievement ever, and one of the most enjoyable things I have ever worked on.
Mothers Have Unbelievable Potential
So throughout my motherhood journey, I discovered that we mothers have great potential and that investing in ourselves reflects back on our kids. We not only give them the best motivation, but we also become better moms when we don’t give up on ourselves.
I discovered that discipline and commitment do miracles.
I experienced how hard work pays off, and that nothing we do or study or work on goes in vain ever.
Motherhood is the Gate to a Better Version of Us
Motherhood doesn’t stop you or hinder you from achieving your career growth.
On the contrary, it shows you how strong and capable you can be.
I never knew I could achieve this much before having kids. I can safely say that I achieved a lot of success and recognition after being a mother, where I connected with myself way more while enjoying my new role.
Being a mom is a huge blessing, and it can be a turning point in your life if you just choose to never give up and consistently work on yourself.
From One Mother to Another
You’re not losing your passion; you’re growing through passion-fueled motherhood in a new way.
Motherhood doesn’t take your dreams away; it can give you the space to return to them at the right time, in a way that fits your life.
Stay open, sometimes motherhood is exactly what brings your passion back to you.
